I really, really, need to finish filling out this layout. But I think I'll be lazy for a little while longer. Either that, or I'll do it tonight while skimming through Troy to find all the places where Brad Pitt is, especially where he's naked since I won't have much else to do. Well, no, I take that back, because..
My Axel wig came in today. :DDD The extensions came in a few days before; I have yet to decide if I'm going to do net-and-sew wefts or the "no-sew" caulked ones. Either way, that will have to wait until the dye comes in. I have a sexcellent cherry red dye coming in that will darken the current red wig I purchased to JUST the right color for Axel / Renji / Reno / half the other redheads I know. (I had to resist the urge to cosplay Reno. Maybe next time, maybe next time.)
Currently the wig is hanging up in my shower, drying. I'm in the process of straightening it, and it's going excellently well. I almost thought the wig would be thick enough that I wouldn't need wefts (most of the cosplayers claim it is), but I won't know until I do some test styling after I dye it. I need to go pick up some straight hairpins and a styrofoam base tonight while I'm out tonight.
I also have m'dress form ready and waiting, compliments of FCCJ's Costume Shop, and in regards to that I'm plotting the seams in my head right now. Spent most of last night awake plotting out the pattern and what's going to need to be cut, and how I'm going to sew it to make sure everything's even. I will most likely start sewing this weekend (read as: tomorrow and Sunday) and see how that works out while I'm waiting for my dye to arrive.
:DDD This keeps me from thinking about everything ELSE that is going on.

bastardized where'd you go??? D:? Come back, piglet! I didn't get to tell you the good news! Oh, well. I'll just tell it here.
So I had exhausted all of my friends in this city (read: less than five in fact I don't even need all five fingers, this is a sign I need to move and get out of Florida) looking for a dress form (read: mannequin) that I could borrow to do the sewing I need to do for this upcoming Otakon. First I went out this morning because I had assumed that Jo-Ann's Fabric had dress forms in the store for sale (I COULD HAVE SWORN IT) but I turned out to be, in fact, very wrong. Nope. Gotta order them. Okay. At first it was like, okay, I can get one for $130 because they're on sale online. Cool. I even get free shipping. Double cool. .. but for that one they wouldn't gaurantee me that it would get here before, you know, mid-July. Okay. Fine. Well, this other one was on sale for $150 -- a little more than I wanted because I'd set the bar at $100 (which is really really cheap for these things) -- but to get it here in any decent sort of time I'd have to pay $30 for shipping + special handling for the weight which pushed it right back up to $200.
After talking to piglet forever, I got the idea to ask the girls in my class today if any of them sew (and inevitably if they had a dress form I could borrow). Well, one girl suggested I check out the theater crew and the costume shop at school. Costume shop??? Omfg it went right over my head that the community college I go to is big on Fine Arts and has a big focus on theatre and dance. HELLO. In fact, the shop was a door down from my class! I snuck over there, was surprised to notice the door was propped open an inch or so and the lights were on, and lo! there were two women in there. I explained my plight and not only did they say I could come in and use their dress forms, but I COULD TAKE ONE HOME WITH ME for a week or two. HOT.
I am very pleased with this turn of events.
I was also wig shopping this morning but it got interrupted by having to go to class (was ALMOST LATE except my teacher was even later so it didn't even matter, another score for today). The wig shop in the mall, alas, does not have what I need. However. I've finally decided that although the glaringly bright fire red Amphigory insists on selling could put fire hydrants to shame, it will work just fine, because I can dye it. And if the instructions aren't too outlandishly hard I can even gradient dye it. Dyeing, I can do. Dyeing, I've been doing all of my life. It's the wefting I'm worried about, but one, I'm not stupid, and two, I've always been skilled in hand projects and art. So in the end I'm not THAT worried. I can figure it out. I figure everything out. I have to dye also because there's no way I can match the extensions and the wig without going with the glaringly bright red and dyeing it darker even though I found the perfectest red ever.
In fact. I need to go order now, and figure out how long this stuff is going to take to get in my hands because I WANT TO START NOW. NOW. nownownow.
Also, I feel no remorse for linking you all to
halcyonjazz's journal to check out her two latest music posts, because I'm hosting half of it for her. BWAHAHAHAHA. And I'm too lazy to repost it all in my journal. Yah. Lazy.
Oh. Testing new mood them (by
rubyd), too. WAS A PAIN IN THE ASS TO UPLOAD, THANKS LJ. But it's cute and it's all done and working and uploaded and I will be adding a link to the post where you can find it in the credits on my userinfo page after I order these wigs and get the credits section written to begin with. ::DEEP BREATH.:: Okay off I go.
Edit: I just noticed my tags links aren't showing up in my posts. Interesting. Note to self to fix that after wigging out. (Ha. Ha. Ha.)

Parents will be home tomorrow and actually I need to finish cleaning the house, but first I felt like writing an Entry of Random Pointlessness, Etc.
I got the stuff sorted out with Otakon today -- apparently somehow when Lexi registered both of us and made the payment, despite it showing both of us being paid for, it didn't register me, so we had to make a few e-mails to get everything sorted out. Surprisingly, the pre-reg staff was really responsive, and I didn't have to wait more than 24 hours for them to get back to me with my receipt and a confirmation that I had, indeed, been properly registered and it was all taken care of. I approve.
Everything is set to go except for the two biggest things, namely my plane reservations to Maryland which really just require me and Lexi sitting down at the same time, and my costume preparations. My main cosplay for Otakon will probably be Axel (while I meanwhile finish debating whether it's worth the trouble to craft his spike-ring-things) but I'll probably also bring Vanessa (my main for AWA) along as a break costume since that one's relatively simple and easy.
Did I mention I have a bag of Baby Ruths? Because I do. And it is the most awesome thing ever.
Also: it rained today, just as the sun was setting, and everything was orange and red and peach and pink. This, complete with Sanctuary blasting to keep me company? Best moment ever. I love picturesque, happy moments. Because I'm a sucker, I tell you. I was totally going to go outside and smoke a cigarette in the sunset but being that it was raining I had trouble getting that part to work. Alas.
I finally made it onto Disc 2 of FF7 and jesusfuckingchrist this is the longest game I have ever played. I thought Randy was kidding when he said it would take me AT LEAST a week to finish (I usually finish games within days). In hindsight: playing the game did make AC more enjoyable (I've only seen it.. oh.. five or six times since it came out), for some reason, even though I knew the full backstory beforehand. Also, speaking of: whoever sends me Loz in a box first wins a prize, I don't know what, just do it.
One of these days I will totally get off my ass and do another music post, I swear. Maybe when, you know, PEOPLE STOP DYING.

** ACHTUNG **
FOR THOSE OF YOU GOING TO AWA: First of all, tell me if you're going (even if I've asked you already because I'M FORGETFUL), and secondly, is anybody planning to do a Group Membership (you know, the cheap and sensible thing to do)? I'm sure there's definitely more than six people going in the Jean-Meg-Erin-Kevin-Etc Circle... anyway. If any of you ARE doing a group membership (and I assume if one of you is doing it you're all doing it together), have you already mailed the form in? D: I'm.. just.. mostly clueless on how early you people send in all this stuff, being a fairly not-very-good-at-planning person myself, so can someone give me a heads up?
FOR THOSE OF YOU GOING TO OTAKON: Tell me. D: I'll be going myself and I'd like to know who all else is going so I can give all the appropriate hugs and know who I get to look forward to seeing (possibly again if you're also going to AWA).
.. and lastly, what is everybody cosplaying (if you plan to do so)? This interests me the most I think.
