New MILF hair!

My landlord is a hairstylist. He likes to pretend I'm Barbie and play with my hair, and have his girls do my makeup, and make everything all pretty and perfect. Needed something "business-like" with highlights (no base dye, that is my natural hair color) and here is the end result. I enjoy it thoroughly.

I think the most humorous comment I've received about it so far is that I look like a single mom. LOL.

PS: Oh yeah I grew my hair out like. Forever ago.

FEMALE FRONTED BANDS / ARTISTS

Notes:
1) This encompasses industrial / goth / alternative / punk / pop / etc so not all artists are similar to each other.
2) I can only vouch for bands with a * next to them; the others I have yet to listen to / investigate so I have no idea how awful they sound.
3) I might have to add more later as I go;
4) No I did not include such bands as KITTIE and Otep - sorry, I hate screamers. I don't need to listen to three minutes of a girl trying to make her vocal cords bleed. 9_9
5) I included SOME well-known artists (by this I mean widely circulated, like Pink and Madonna) but not all of them (missing some like Britney Spears, etc) since people are pretty much commonly already aware of those artists.

Paramore *
Flyleaf *
The Hush Sound * (has a male vocalist too, they do duets sometimes)
Fireflight *
Go Betty Go
The Fight
theSTART *
Tsunami Bomb
Sleater-Kinney
be your own PET
Damone
Meg & Dia
Morningwood
Elijah
Veruca Salt
Garbage *
The Sounds
Yeah Yeah Yeahs *
Dresden Dolls *
Sinergy
Lacuna Coil *
Evanescence *
Within Temptation *
Switchblade Symphony *
Snake River Conspiracy *
I:scintilla *
The Distillers
Love Spirals Downwards
My Bloody Valentine
Jack Off Jill *
The Deadly Sins
Arch Enemy
Eyes Set to Kill
In This Moment
Lullacry
Octavia
Kidneythieves *
Frou Frou (now Imogen Heap) *
Light This City
Jem *
Leaves Eyes *
Megan McCauley *
Nadiya *
Sarah Bettens *
Stella Soleil *
Suzanna Vega *
Full Blown Rose *
Anna Nalick *
Kate Havnevik *
The Ting Tings *
Bel Canto *
Bitter Sweet *
Madonna *
Emilie Autumn *
Esthero *
Fiona Apple *
Taylor Swift *
Joydrop *
Katy Perry *
Lady Gaga *
Pink *
Vixtrola *
Rasputina *
Sia *
Save Ferris *
Sharon Apple *
The Birthday Massacre *
The Noisettes *
Vanessa Mae *
Zero 7 *
Alanis Morissette *
No Doubt *
Shivaree *
Sheryl Crow *
Paula Cole *
Charlotte Martin *
Rachel Stevens *

She looked at me, and this is what she said:

"Oh, there ain't no rest for the wicked,
Money don't grow on trees --
I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed,
There ain't nothin' in this world for free.
Oh no, I can't slow down, I can't hold back,
Though you know, I wish I could.
Oh no, there ain't no rest for the wicked...

Until we close our eyes for good."

The night was gradually coming to an end, predawn light filtering past around the edges of the drapes covering the window behind his head, changing the room from black to grey. His left leg was crossed over his right, and his right arm was stretched across the back of the daybed they'd been sharing as a seat, an unnumbered cigarette resting between his knuckles. It was on its way to following the long line of its predecessors which occupied the pile of ashes in the ashtray waiting innocuously on the daybed's seat next to his left hip.

He exhaled a long stream of smoke from the corner of his mouth, tilting his head up a bit to blow the smoke up and away from the second person occupying the daybed with him, sleeping like the dead. She grew tired more easily these days, though she wouldn't admit it aloud. And still she refused to rest. This was day three. She'd claimed insomnia.

He looked down to the mess of blonde curls sprawling across his lap and spilling over; her head was propped up against his knee and the arm she'd folded underneath her, and one hand had eventually come up to rest on his calf in her sleep, fingers unconsciously half-curled. She slept like a saint. She would have made a fine, fierce Methuselah... delicate on the surface, sharp as a knife underneath.

The corner of his mouth quirked -- and who knew! When she was unconscious, she was downright peaceful and inoffensive! Like a sleeping wildcat, but still a wildcat -- she looked safe enough to touch now, but as soon as she woke up she'd be all venom and lace, carefully-disgused disdain and grace, leaving others to unravel in her wake.

That is, after the sedatives he'd put in her tea wore off. He took another drag from his cigarette lazily, musing. When the little beast woke up, it'd probably be in a fury... but for the timebeing he enjoyed the silence and the satisfaction of knowing that she was finally getting the rest she needed. A slight reprieve, but even the slightest would do her some good.

She was going to make such a fuss, he knew. He stifled a faint chuckle, exhaling another stream of smoke from lips curled in the slightest of smiles.

Better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission. She'd said so once, herself.

Oh no, we can't slow down, we can't hold back,
Though you know, we wish we could.
Oh no, there ain't no rest for the wicked...
Until we close our eyes for good.

I actually wrote this one in my car in the Walgreens parking lot at 3 in the morning while waiting for my prescriptions to get filled. I wrote it via text to a friend a couple weeks ago but kept forgetting to go back in my text history and copy it down outside the phone so it wasn't erased forever. So here we are.

If you don't know what these are, they're little mini-stories I write frequently for friends whenever an idea strikes. More often than not I write them to cheer my friends up, but they can be entirely random and no matter when I write them, they're only written for the sole purpose of making someone smile. I don't usually focus on the quality of writing, just the idea and the imagery.

I've been doing this for years now and I'm glad they still come to me at odd moments.

Once upon a time -- not too long ago, in fact -- there was a little boy and a little girl who lived together on the edge of town. They were sitting side by side on the ground in front of the little abandoned shed they called their home.

Finished drawing a few flowers in the dirt with a stick -- the flowers surrounded the dirt-traced unicorn she'd drawn, which had turned into a unicorn-on-fire-currently-stomping-ruthlessly-on-a-small-village, complete with dead sentries once the boy had added his touches, which she said made no difference, there still needed to be flowers, unicorns always come with flowers (at which point the boy had said it was only okay if the flowers were poisonous maneaters, and whined until she finally agreed) -- finished drawing the flowers, the little girl turned to the little boy and asked, "Is my chest getting too big?"

"And tell me the truth," she added.

The little boy, not having learned the ways of the world just yet, replied: "If they get any bigger'n that I'mma not be able t'see ya a'tall for all th'chest in th'way, and yer prolly just gonna tip right o'er facefirst on'na these days an' be so heavy I'll hafta pull ya 'roun' on a sled like on'a 'em people can't walk on they own." This was the honest answer.

This is why the little boy got the little girl's fist in his face and the little girl got up and stomped inside the house, leaving the little boy sprawled on his back in the dirt with a broken nose, blood dripping from underneath the two tiny hands he clutched his face with.

"Well if they're that big I guess there's not enough room for you to sleep in here tonight!" the little girl yelled, slamming the door shut behind her.

The moral of the story? If a woman says she wants you to "tell her the truth" she's lying and you should immediately do the exact opposite. And more importantly: lying hurts a lot, lot less. Like, a LOT less. Lie whenever you get the chance, especially if she's asking you something.
"You are very boring," said the frog.

Kira looked to the side where a small green frog sat demurely on the small stone wall lining this side of the cafe's outdoor patio deck, a small but very tasteful garden growing below on the other side of the wall. There was even a small koi pond. He was reading through several stapled leaflets, and presently looked back to them, resuming his work. "Surely you're not very much more entertaining, being a frog."

"That's very insulting, and how would you know, anyway? I could be quite the party frog. I could be in my college years spending every night getting drunk at frat parties before one morning I wake up in bed next to another frog and next thing you know there's thousands of babies spawning everywhere."

"Then why are you sitting here, talking to me?" Kira asked, lifting his coffee cup and sipping it while he continued to read.

"... because I'm bored," the frog admitted guiltily after a minute, with a very big sigh for such a small frog.

"Ah," said Kira. "That's unfortunate."

"... pleeeeease? You could go swimming with me, we could have lots of fun. The lilypads are quite nice this time of year."

"No thank you, but I do appreciate the offer."

"Do you know the average life expectancy of a frog? ... well, I don't either, but I imagine it's very short, and you know, that's not a bad thing," said the frog, punctuating this statement with a 'ribbit'. "Teaches you to appreciate things more, live in the moment, that sort of thing."

"That's a big philosophy for such a small frog," Kira replied. "And for that matter, Matsumoto," he continued without looking up, flipping over a sheet of paper so he could read the next, "why are you hiding in the garden like that and pretending you're a frog?"

"Well, for starters," the frog replied happily, "my Captain happens to be sitting over there with Hinamori and I'm supposed to be under house arrest until I get my work done. Among other things. I forget."

"You're not a very convincing frog," he observed.

Rangiku's head popped up over the small stone wall right next to the frog. The frog, giving her a very unenthused look, turned very slowly, laboriously around before hopping away. She watched it before looking back up to Kira cheerfully. "That's because frogs don't have boobs."

"... of course. That would be the reason." Kira, despite himself, chuckled into his coffee.

I find myself putting in copious amounts of overtime more and more lately, which is humorous as I do not get paid a single dime for it, so it is all voluntary. (Congratulations for being on salary!)

Scheduled off at midnight, leaving at 2:30 in the morning? It's part of the job description.

That and I'm not a douchebag; I cannot in good conscience just say "lol goodbye" when Jason is the only one here to close past 12:30 AM and the overnights crew is completely clueless. And on the night of the new iPhone launch, no less.

It's okay though, I am thinking of kittens. And washing dishes, strangely. Perhaps I will wash kittens. :>a

Jean, as usual, is just mean:

ceylon: sigh 9_9 I'm still on a bridge call so
ceylon: I will be home late
daysgoby: oh sad the hookers are leaving at 2, too
ceylon: ;A; goddamnit

Dear Dad,

I love you with all of my heart. I thank God that you are somehow miraculously still alive (you stubborn bastard), probably because you're incredibly freaking lucky. I tip my hat to your clever choices in timing; truly, the heart attack on my prom night was well-played, sir. You probably shouldn't have gone so far as to actually die on the table, though, because... well, the whole defibrillation thing didn't work out too well for you, considering it undid all the fixes the back surgery did on your lower spine. And who knew, a 6'2" man built like a truck, scared of anesthesia. Huh. (Well, I guess I don't blame you there.)

So after two heart attacks, spinal injuries, a bad back, a bad leg that's given you a permanent (but still manly, I promise) limp, AND cancer, I kind of think of you as an old car that's falling apart piece by piece (an old car I'm very fond of, all the same), but... well, you're here, and I love you. Now stop breaking yourself, please.

Thank you for all the things you taught me as a little girl, and for letting me do all the things you would've had a son do.

I'm still amused that I'm the only one of your daughters who can yell at you; someone has to fuss at you, and I'm the only one you'll listen to. Except when you decide to buy things behind my back for me and make me want to strangle you. I love you, but one of these days I will have to haul off and punch you.

I miss the quiet car rides we used to have when I was younger, and I love the way we've always had a mutual, unphaseable understanding of each other, and the way you always said "Don't tell your mother" whenever I got myself in trouble (remember the time I skinned my entire back alive?). PS: Thank you for rescuing my vibrator from mom. I still laugh at that.

I've no reason in particular for writing this; I was just thinking of you, and I wanted to write it down.

I love you, and at the end of the day, I cannot think of a better father, nor one I would love, admire, and respect more than I do you. In some ways, I will always be the little girl walking down to the end of the pier with you (no bigger than your knee), or stripping copper wire on the floor of the garage while you were working on engine repairs. So much of me has come from you, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
